A SHA-256 hash of your browser's unique characteristics β canvas rendering, audio context, hardware concurrency, timezone, screen dimensions, and more. Stored locally and compared on every session to detect unfamiliar devices.

HOW IT WORKS
The fingerprint is generated from characteristics unique to your browser and hardware. Canvas rendering differs per GPU/OS, audio processing differs per hardware, and hardware concurrency reflects your CPU core count. Combined and hashed with SHA-256, they produce a stable identifier.
Privacy note: The fingerprint is computed entirely in your browser. It is stored only in localStorage on this device and optionally sent to the SNO backend for server-side matching. It never leaves your Netbird mesh.
Limitations: Browser updates, GPU driver updates, or switching browsers can change the fingerprint. When this happens, regenerate on the trusted device and re-enrol. This is expected behaviour β the fingerprint detects sudden changes, not gradual ones.
FINGERPRINT COMPONENTS
π¨
Canvas
GPU-rendered text and shapes produce pixel-level differences unique to your graphics hardware and driver version.
π
Audio Context
Audio processing characteristics (compressor thresholds, oscillator output) vary by hardware and OS audio stack.
