Your Starlink connection is the network anchor for Link Star. The public IP prefix assigned to your account is whitelisted as a trusted network origin. Connections from outside this range face additional scrutiny.

HOW IT WORKS
Starlink in bypass mode gives your router direct control of the WAN connection. The public IP assigned to your account stays within a consistent IP range (prefix) even when the exact IP changes. Link Star whitelists this prefix as a trusted network context.
IP alone is not sufficient. Starlink IP is one of seven factors โ not a standalone gate. A VPN user with a spoofed IP would still fail YubiKey, GPS, and beacon checks. Use it as a supporting signal, not the primary defence.
CGNAT note: Starlink uses CGNAT in some areas. In bypass mode with your own router (OPNsense/pfSense), you get a more stable public IP. The coturn STUN server in the SNO stack handles NAT traversal for Netbird peers.
